This beautiful Lake District painting by Ted Hepenstal perfectly captures Wast Water, the England's deepest lake located in the Lake District. Ted beautifully captured the dramatic landscape and rugged countryside of Wasdale. The contrast of the warm tones of oranges and browns of the hills is spectacular in contrast to the cyan blue of the sky, and its reflection in the lake below.
Hampshire based artist Ted creates paintings that speak both to him and to others about the beauty that he sees in the world. As a keen hiker he visits the Lakes regularly, exploring the landscape and taking inspiration from the stunning scenery and nature that can be found throughout.
He is influenced greatly by artists such as Van Gogh, Kandinsky and Cezanne, and uses bold colours and brushstrokes to capture moods, emotions and to create a sense of connection to a location. He does this using a variety of mediums including acrylic, oil, gouache, oil pastel, ink, collage and pencil.
He has exhibited paintings at Winchester Cathedral and the Business Design Centre in Islington, as winner of the Abstract and Experimental category for the Society for all Artists.
